Unlocking HST's Stellar Treasure Trove: Stellar Activity Minima for HAT-P-11 Offer Prime Windows for Transmission Spectroscopy
Prajwal Niraula, Benjamin V. Rackham, Julien de Wit +4
HAT-P-11 is a well-studied, active K dwarf hosting an eccentric, misaligned transiting sub-Neptune. As part of the HST Stellar Treasure Trove program (HST-AR-17551), we analyze abs…
First JWST thermal phase curves of temperate terrestrial exoplanets reveal no thick atmosphere around TRAPPIST-1 b and c
Michaël Gillon, Elsa Ducrot, Taylor J. Bell +30
We report JWST/MIRI 15 m phase curves of TRAPPIST-1 b and c, revealing thermal emission consistent with their irradiation levels, assuming no efficient heat redistribution. We f…
Hubble's Multi-Year Search for Exospheres in the TRAPPIST-1 System Reveals Frequent Microflares
David Berardo, Julien de Wit, Michael Gillon +14
Ly- observations provide a powerful probe of stellar activity and atmospheric escape in exoplanetary systems. We present here an analysis of 104 HST/STIS orbits monitoring the T…
Low 4.5 μm Dayside Emission Disfavors a Dark Bare-Rock scenario for the Hot Super-Earth TOI-431 b
Christopher Monaghan, Pierre-Alexis Roy, Björn Benneke +13
The full range of conditions under which rocky planets can host atmospheres remains poorly understood, especially in the regime of close-in orbits around late-type stars. One way t…
Detection of an Earth-sized exoplanet orbiting the nearby ultracool dwarf star SPECULOOS-3
Michaël Gillon, Peter P. Pedersen, Benjamin V. Rackham +81
Located at the bottom of the main sequence, ultracool dwarf stars are widespread in the solar neighbourhood. Nevertheless, their extremely low luminosity has left their planetary p…
A roadmap for the atmospheric characterization of terrestrial exoplanets with JWST
TRAPPIST-1 JWST Community Initiative, :, Julien de Wit +80
Ultra-cool dwarf stars are abundant, long-lived, and uniquely suited to enable the atmospheric study of transiting terrestrial companions with JWST. Amongst them, the most prominen…
