Abstract
Measurements of the midrapidity transverse energy distribution are presented for , Au, and AuAu Collisions at =62.4--200 GeV. The distributions are compared with the number of participants, , the number of constituent-quark participants, , and the number of color-strings (Additive Quark Model-AQM) calculated from a Glauber model. For AuAu, increases with , while is approximately constant vs. centrality for GeV. This indicates that the two component ansatz, , which has been used to represent distributions, is simply a proxy for , and that the term does not represent a hard-scattering component in distributions. The distributions of Au, and AuAu are calculated from the measured distribution using two models (AQM and ) that both reproduce the AuAu data. For the asymmetric Au system, the model reproduces the data while the AQM does not.
