Recovering the effective impact parameters in integral-field absorption-line tomography
J. A. Hernández-Guajardo, L. F. Barrientos, C. Ledoux +3
Integral-field-unit (IFU) spectroscopy of extended background sources, such as gravitational arcs, delivers many closely spaced absorption sightlines through the circumgalactic med…
Unveiling large-scale rotational motions in the intragroup medium at z~1 through gravitational-arc tomography
Cédric Ledoux, Fernanda Muñoz-Olivares, L. Felipe Barrientos +8
We present the first spatially resolved characterisation of the cool intragroup medium (IGrM) in a spectroscopically confirmed galaxy group at z=1.167. Using 30 independent sightli…
Caught in the web: galaxy mergers along cosmic filaments
Carolina Dulcien, Yara L. Jaffe, Jacob P. Crossett +31
Galaxy clusters grow through the accretion of galaxies from groups, filaments, and other clusters. During this process, galaxies may undergo pre-processing in lower-density environ…
A z1 galactic-scale outflow transversally mapped to 50 kpc through gravitational-arc tomography
J. A. Hernández-Guajardo, L. F. Barrientos, S. López +12
We report spatially resolved measurements of cool gas traced by Mg II and Fe II absorption in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of a star-forming galaxy at (G1). The fortuit…
