Gemini Planet Imager Spectroscopy of the HR 8799 planets c and d
Patrick Ingraham, Mark S. Marley, Didier Saumon +43
During the first-light run of the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) we obtained K-band spectra of exoplanets HR 8799 c and d. Analysis of the spectra indicates that planet d may be warmer…
The First H-band Spectrum of the Massive Gas Giant Planet beta Pictoris b with the Gemini Planet Imager
Jeffrey Chilcote, Travis Barman, Michael P. Fitzgerald +43
Using the recently installed Gemini Planet Imager (GPI), we have taken the first H-band spectrum of the planetary companion to the nearby young star beta Pictoris. GPI is designed…
Polarimetry with the Gemini Planet Imager: Methods, Performance at First Light, and the Circumstellar Ring around HR 4796A
Marshall D. Perrin, Gaspard Duchene, Max Millar-Blanchaer +41
We present the first results from the polarimetry mode of the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI), which uses a new integral field polarimetry architecture to provide high contrast linear p…
The Gemini Planet Imager: First Light
Bruce Macintosh, James R. Graham, Patrick Ingraham +44
The Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) is a dedicated facility for directly imaging and spectroscopically characterizing extrasolar planets. It combines a very high-order adaptive optics s…
