Space Telescope and Optical Reverberation Mapping Project. III. Optical Continuum Emission and Broad-Band Time Delays in NGC 5548
M. M. Fausnaugh, K. D. Denney, A. J. Barth +94
We present ground-based optical photometric monitoring data for NGC 5548, part of an extended multi-wavelength reverberation mapping campaign. The light curves have nearly daily ca…
A Systematic Search for Changing-Look Quasars in SDSS
Chelsea L. MacLeod, Nicholas P. Ross, Andy Lawrence +10
We present a systematic search for changing-look quasars based on repeat photometry from SDSS and Pan-STARRS1, along with repeat spectra from SDSS and SDSS-III BOSS. Objects with l…
Correlated X-ray/Ultraviolet/Optical Variability in NGC 6814
Jon Troyer, David Starkey, Edward Cackett +4
We present results of a 3-month combined X-ray/UV/optical monitoring campaign of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 6814. The object was monitored by Swift from June through August 2012 in t…
Interpreting broad emission-line variations II: Tensions between luminosity, characteristic size and responsivity
Michael R. Goad, Kirk T. Korista
We investigate the variability behaviour of the broad Hb emission-line to driving continuum variations in the best-studied AGN NGC 5548. For a particular choice of BLR geometry, Hb…
SDSS J1138+3517: A quasar showing remarkably variable broad absorption lines
Conor Wildy, Michael R. Goad, James T. Allen
We report on the highly variable SiIV and CIV broad absorption lines in SDSS J113831.4+351725.2 across four observational epochs. Using the SiIV doublet components, we find that th…
Space Telescope and Optical Reverberation Mapping Project. I. Ultraviolet Observations of the Seyfert 1 Galaxy NGC 5548 with the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph on Hubble Space Telescope
G. De Rosa, B. M. Peterson, J. Ely +47
We describe the first results from a six-month long reverberation-mapping experiment in the ultraviolet based on 170 observations of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 5548 with the Cosmic O…
