Storing light with subradiant correlations in arrays of atoms
G. Facchinetti, S. D. Jenkins, J. Ruostekoski
We show how strong light-mediated resonant dipole-dipole interactions between atoms can be utilized in a control and storage of light. The method is based on a high-fidelity prepar…
Stochastic methods for light propagation and recurrent scattering in saturated and nonsaturated atomic ensembles
Mark D. Lee, Stewart D. Jenkins, Janne Ruostekoski
We derive equations for the strongly coupled system of light and dense atomic ensembles. The formalism includes an arbitrary internal level structure for the atoms and is not restr…
Collective resonance fluorescence in small and dense atom clouds: Comparison between theory and experiment
S. D. Jenkins, J. Ruostekoski, J. Javanainen +5
We study the emergence of a collective optical response of a cold and dense Rb atomic cloud to a near-resonant low-intensity light when the atom number is gradually increase…
Optical resonance shifts in the fluorescence of thermal and cold atomic gases
S. D. Jenkins, J. Ruostekoski, J. Javanainen +4
We show that the resonance shifts in the fluorescence of a cold gas of rubidium atoms substantially differ from those of thermal atomic ensembles that obey the standard continuous…
