The Stellar Population Histories of Early-Type Galaxies. II. Controlling Parameters of the Stellar Populations
S. C. Trager, S. M. Faber, G. Worthey +1
We analyze single-stellar-population (SSP) equivalent parameters for 50 local elliptical galaxies as a function of their structural parameters. These galaxies fill a two-dimensiona…
The Stellar Population Histories of Local Early-Type Galaxies. I. Population Parameters
S. C. Trager, S. M. Faber, Guy Worthey +1
We present single stellar population (SSP) equivalent ages, metallicities, and abundance ratios for local elliptical galaxies derived from Hbeta, Mgb, and <Fe> absorption line stre…
Old Stellar Populations. VI. Absorption-Line Spectra of Galaxy Nuclei and Globular Clusters
S. C. Trager, Guy Worthey, S. M. Faber +2
We present absorption-line strengths on the Lick/IDS line-strength system of 381 galaxies and 38 globular clusters in the 4000--6400 Åregion. All galaxies were observed at Lick Obs…
Line-Strength Indices in Bright Spheroidals: Evidence for a Stellar Population Dichotomy between Spheroidal and Elliptical Galaxies
J. Gorgas, S. Pedraz, R. Guzman +2
We present new measurements of central line-strength indices (namely Mg2, <Fe>, and Hbeta and gradients for a sample of 6 bright spheroidal galaxies (Sph's) in the Virgo cluster. C…
