Fresh Insights on the Kinematics of M49's Globular Cluster System with MMT/Hectospec Spectroscopy
Matthew A. Taylor, Youkyung Ko, Patrick Côté +10
We present the first results of an MMT/Hectospec campaign to measure the kinematics of globular clusters (GCs) around M49 -- the brightest galaxy in the Virgo galaxy cluster, which…
A Virgo Environmental Survey Tracing Ionised Gas Emission (VESTIGE).X. Formation of a red ultra-diffuse galaxy and an almost dark galaxy during a ram-pressure stripping event
Junais, S. Boissier, A. Boselli +16
The evolution of galaxies depends on their interaction with the surrounding environment. Ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) have been found in large numbers in clusters. We detected a f…
The Mass and Age Distribution of Halo White Dwarfs in the Canada-France Imaging Survey
Nicholas J. Fantin, Patrick Côté, Alan W. McConnachie +6
We present optical spectroscopy for 18 halo white dwarfs identified using photometry from the Canada-France Imaging Survey and Pan-STARRS1 DR1 3 survey combined with astrometry…
Solo dwarfs II: The stellar structure of isolated Local Group dwarf galaxies
C. R. Higgs, A. W. McConnachie, N. Annau +5
The Solo (Solitary Local) Dwarf Galaxy survey is a volume limited, wide-field g- and i- band survey of all known nearby (<3 Mpc) and isolated (>300 kpc from the Milky Way or M31) d…
