Optimal operating points of oscillators using nonlinear resonators
Eyal Kenig, M. C. Cross, L. G. Villanueva +4
We demonstrate an analytical method for calculating the phase sensitivity of a class of oscillators whose phase does not affect the time evolution of the other dynamic variables. W…
A Nanoscale Parametric Feedback Oscillator
L. Guillermo Villanueva, Rassul B. Karabalin, Matthew H. Matheny +3
We describe and demonstrate a new oscillator topology, the parametric feedback oscillator (PFO). The PFO paradigm is applicable to a wide variety of nanoscale devices, and opens th…
Surpassing fundamental limits of oscillators using nonlinear resonators
L. G. Villanueva, E. Kenig, R. B. Karabalin +4
Self-sustained oscillators are ubiquitous and essential for metrology, communications, time reference, and geolocation. In its most basic form an oscillator consists of a resonator…
A Passive Phase Noise Cancellation Element
Eyal Kenig, M. C. Cross, Ron Lifshitz +4
We introduce a new method for reducing phase noise in oscillators, thereby improving their frequency precision. The noise reduction device consists of a pair of coupled nonlinear r…
