The Northern Cross Fast Radio Burst project: V. Search for transient radio emission from Galactic magnetars
A. Geminardi, P. Esposito, G. Bernardi +21
Context. The radio emission from magnetars is poorly understood and poorly characterized observationally, in particular for what concerns single pulses and sporadic events. The int…
Radiometer Calibration using Machine Learning
S. A. K. Leeney, H. T. J. Bevins, E. de Lera Acedo +35
Radiometers are crucial instruments in radio astronomy, forming the primary component of nearly all radio telescopes. They measure the intensity of electromagnetic radiation, conve…
Probing magneto-ionic microstructure towards the Vela pulsar using a prototype SKA-Low station
C. P. Lee, N. D. R. Bhat, M. Sokolowski +2
The Vela pulsar (J0835-4510) is known to exhibit variations in Faraday rotation and dispersion on multi-decade timescales due to the changing sightline through the surrounding Vela…
The Northern Cross Fast Radio Burst project -- III. The FRB-magnetar connection in a sample of nearby galaxies
Davide Pelliciari, Gianni Bernardi, Maura Pilia +18
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond radio transients observed at cosmological distances. The nature of their progenitors is still a matter of debate, although magnetars are in…
