A Portable Dual-Color Two-Photon Rubidium Optical Frequency Standard
Sarah K. Scholten, Emily Ahern, Clayton Locke +8
Portable atomic clocks are essential in a wide variety of applications, most notably in the operation of global navigation satellite systems. Existing portable atomic clocks utiliz…
Demonstration of a simple and compact ytterbium magneto-optical trap
Benjamin White, Rachel F. Offer, Ashby P. Hilton +5
We present a low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP), low-complexity, ytterbium magneto-optical trap (MOT). We demonstrate trapping of Yb atoms on the $|{^1S_0}…
Selective ionization of Rydberg atoms to reduce the energy spread of a cold atom focused ion beam
Kaih T. Mitchell, Allan Pennings, Rory W. Speirs +4
The energy spread of a focused ion beam causes chromatic aberration that limits the focal spot size and resolution for imaging and fabrication. Ion beams based on photoionization o…
Demonstration of a Mobile Optical Clock Ensemble at Sea
A. P. Hilton, R. F. Offer, E. Klantsataya +14
Atomic clocks are at the leading edge of accuracy and precision and are essential for synchronization of distributed critical infrastructure, position, navigation and timing, and s…
