HAPS as a Hypercell: Enabling Coverage and Capacity Carrier Shutdown in Cellular Networks
Matteo Bernabè, David López-Pérez, Nicola Piovesan
Energy consumption remains a dominant operational challenge for current and future cellular systems, especially in dense urban deployments. This paper investigates a novel role for…
Capacity and Energy Trade-Offs in FR3 6G Networks Using Real Deployment Data
David López-Pérez, Nicola Piovesan, Matteo Bernabè
This article presents a data-driven system-level analysis of multi-layer 6G networks operating in the upper mid-band (FR3: 7-24 GHz). Unlike most prior studies based on 3rd Generat…
Capacity and Power Consumption of Multi-Layer 6G Networks Using the Upper Mid-Band
David López-Pérez, Nicola Piovesan, Giovanni Geraci
This paper presents a new system model to evaluate the capacity and power consumption of multi-layer 6G networks utilising the upper mid-band (FR3). The model captures heterogeneou…
Modelling the 5G Energy Consumption using Real-world Data: Energy Fingerprint is All You Need
Tingwei Chen, Yantao Wang, Hanzhi Chen +5
The introduction of 5G technology has revolutionized communications, enabling unprecedented capacity, connectivity, and ultra-fast, reliable communications. However, this leap has…
