A Quenched and Relatively Isolated Dwarf Galaxy in the Local Volume
Tehreem N. Hai, Kristen B. W. McQuinn, Yao-Yuan Mao +7
An increasing number of discoveries of isolated and quenched dwarf galaxies are challenging the idea that the present-day local environment of low-mass systems is the main determin…
Leonessa: An Extremely Metal-poor Galaxy Undergoing Secular Chemical Evolution
Joseph A. Breneman, Kristen B. W. McQuinn, Alexander Menchaca +5
Extremely metal-poor (XMP) galaxies are systems with gas-phase oxygen abundances below 5% Solar metallicity (12+log(O/H)7.35). These galaxies populate the metal-poor end…
EDGE: The emergence of dwarf galaxy scaling relations from cosmological radiation-hydrodynamics simulations
Martin P. Rey, Ethan Taylor, Emily I. Gray +14
We present a new suite of EDGE (`Engineering Dwarfs at Galaxy formation's Edge') cosmological zoom simulations. The suite includes 15 radiation-hydrodynamical dwarf galaxies coveri…
The Impact of Cosmic Rays on the Kinematics of the Circumgalactic Medium
Iryna S. Butsky, Jessica K. Werk, Kirill Tchernyshyov +9
We use hydrodynamical simulations of two Milky Way-mass galaxies to demonstrate the impact of cosmic-ray pressure on the kinematics of cool and warm circumgalactic gas. Consistent…
