Sensitivity Studies for Third-Generation Gravitational Wave Observatories
S. Hild, M. Abernathy, F. Acernese +136
Advanced gravitational wave detectors, currently under construction, are expected to directly observe gravitational wave signals of astrophysical origin. The Einstein Telescope, a…
Calibration and sensitivity of the Virgo detector during its second science run
The Virgo Collaboration, T. Accadia, F. Acernese +175
The Virgo detector is a kilometer-length interferometer for gravitational wave detection located near Pisa (Italy). During its second science run (VSR2) in 2009, six months of data…
Measurement of Thermal Noise in Multilayer Coatings with Optimized Layer Thickness
Akira E. Villar, Eric D. Black, Riccardo DeSalvo +9
A standard quarter-wavelength multilayer optical coating will produce the highest reflectivity for a given number of coating layers, but in general it will not yield the lowest the…
Virgo calibration and reconstruction of the gravitational wave strain during VSR1
The Virgo collaboration, T. Accadia, F. Acernese +171
Virgo is a kilometer-length interferometer for gravitational waves detection located near Pisa. Its first science run, VSR1, occured from May to October 2007. The aims of the calib…
