An Investigation of how Label Smoothing Affects Generalization
Blair Chen, Liu Ziyin, Zihao Wang +1
It has been hypothesized that label smoothing can reduce overfitting and improve generalization, and current empirical evidence seems to corroborate these effects. However, there i…
Semi-Supervised Bilingual Lexicon Induction with Two-way Interaction
Xu Zhao, Zihao Wang, Hao Wu +1
Semi-supervision is a promising paradigm for Bilingual Lexicon Induction (BLI) with limited annotations. However, previous semisupervised methods do not fully utilize the knowledge…
A Relaxed Matching Procedure for Unsupervised BLI
Xu Zhao, Zihao Wang, Hao Wu +1
Recently unsupervised Bilingual Lexicon Induction (BLI) without any parallel corpus has attracted much research interest. One of the crucial parts in methods for the BLI task is th…
Volumization as a Natural Generalization of Weight Decay
Liu Ziyin, Zihao Wang, Makoto Yamada +1
We propose a novel regularization method, called \textit{volumization}, for neural networks. Inspired by physics, we define a physical volume for the weight parameters in neural ne…
Structural-Aware Sentence Similarity with Recursive Optimal Transport
Zihao Wang, Yong Zhang, Hao Wu
Measuring sentence similarity is a classic topic in natural language processing. Light-weighted similarities are still of particular practical significance even when deep learning…
