Cappell-Shaneson homotopy spheres are standard

Selman Akbulut

We show that an infinite sequence of homotopy 4-spheres constructed by Cappell-Shaneson are all diffeomorphic to S^4. This generalizes previous results of Akbulut-Kirby and Gompf.
