Probing the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of two interacting atoms
Tim Keller, Thomás Fogarty
We study the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of two interacting atoms in a one-dimensional harmonic trap after a quench by a tightly pinned impurity atom. We make use of an approximate…
Localization transition in presence of cavity backaction
Katharina Rojan, Rebecca Kraus, Thomás Fogarty +3
We study the localization transition of an atom confined by an external optical lattice in a high-finesse cavity. The atom-cavity coupling yields an effective secondary lattice pot…
Optomechanical many-body cooling using frustration
Thomás Fogarty, Haggai Landa, Cecilia Cormick +1
We show that the vibrations of an ion Coulomb crystal can be cooled to the zero-point motion through the optomechanical coupling with a high-finesse cavity. Cooling results from th…
Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics of Harmonically Trapped Bosons
Miguel Ángel García-March, Thomás Fogarty, Steve Campbell +2
We apply the framework of non-equilibrium quantum thermodynamics to the physics of quenched small-sized bosonic quantum gases in a one-dimensional harmonic trap. We show that dynam…
