Through the fog: a complementary optical galaxy classification scheme for 'intermediate' redshifts
Duarte Muñoz Santos, Cirino Pappalardo, Henrique Miranda +10
Understanding galaxy classification depends on our interpretation of their spectra. To date, the hydrogen Balmer lines remain the most consistent way to classify galaxies, but at '…
EMU/GAMA: A new approach to characterising radio luminosity functions
J. Prathap, A. M. Hopkins, J. Afonso +16
This study characterises the radio luminosity functions (RLFs) for SFGs and AGN using statistical redshift estimation in the absence of comprehensive spectroscopic data. Sensitive…
Unveiling faint X-ray AGN populations in the NewAthena era: Insights from cosmological simulations
Nuno Covas, Israel Matute, Stergios Amarantidis +7
Recent observations expanded our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution, yet key challenges persist in the X-ray regime, crucial for studying Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN).…
MIGHTEE: exploring the relationship between spectral index, redshift and radio luminosity
Siddhant Pinjarkar, Martin J. Hardcastle, Dharam V. Lal +9
It has been known for many years that there is an apparent trend for the spectral index (α) of radio sources to steepen with redshift z, which has led to attempts to select high-re…
