Real-time triggering capabilities for Fast Radio Bursts at the MeerKAT telescope
F. Jankowski, M. Berezina, B. W. Stappers +9
Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are bright enigmatic radio pulses of roughly millisecond duration that come from extragalactic distances. As part of the MeerTRAP project, we use the MeerK…
Simultaneous multi-telescope observations of FRB 121102
M. Caleb, B. W. Stappers, T. D. Abbott +29
We present 11 detections of FRB 121102 in ~3 hours of observations during its 'active' period on the 10th of September 2019. The detections were made using the newly deployed MeerT…
Possible periodic activity in the repeating FRB 121102
K. M. Rajwade, M. B. Mickaliger, B. W. Stappers +8
The discovery that at least some Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) repeat has ruled out cataclysmic events as the progenitors of these particular bursts. FRB~121102 is the most well-studied…
Optimal periodicity searching: Revisiting the Fast Folding Algorithm for large-scale pulsar surveys
V. Morello, E. D. Barr, B. W. Stappers +2
The Fast Folding Algorithm (FFA) is a phase-coherent search technique for periodic signals. It has rarely been used in radio pulsar searches, having been historically supplanted by…
