Active Galactic Nucleus Feedback in an Elliptical Galaxy with the Most Updated AGN Physics: Parameter Explorations
Zhiyuan Yao, Feng Yuan, Jeremiah P. Ostriker
In a previous work, we have proposed a sub-grid model of active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback by taking into account the state-of-the-art AGN physics, and used that model to stud…
What is the Halo Mass Function in a Fuzzy Dark Matter Cosmology?
Mihir Kulkarni, Jeremiah P. Ostriker
Fuzzy dark matter (FDM) or wave dark matter is an alternative theory designed to solve the small-scale problems faced by the standard cold dark matter proposal for the primary mate…
The Impact of Outflows driven by Active Galactic Nuclei on Metals in and around Galaxies
Ena Choi, Ryan Brennan, Rachel S. Somerville +3
Metals in the hot gaseous halos of galaxies encode the history of star formation as well as the feedback processes that eject metals from the galaxies. X-ray observations suggest t…
The Fates of Merging Supermassive Black Holes and a Proposal for a New Class of X-Ray Sources
Charles Zivancev, Jeremiah Ostriker, Andreas H. W. Kupper
We perform N-body simulations on some of the most massive galaxies extracted from a cosmological simulation of hierarchical structure formation with total masses in the range $10^{…
