Pioneering high contrast science instruments for planet characterization on giant segmented mirror telescopes
N. Jovanovic, O. Guyon, J. Lozi +36
A suite of science instruments is critical to any high contrast imaging facility, as it defines the science capabilities and observing modes available. SCExAO uses a modular approa…
The Subaru Coronagraphic Extreme Adaptive Optics system: enabling high-contrast imaging on solar-system scales
N. Jovanovic, F. Martinache, O. Guyon +35
The Subaru Coronagraphic Extreme Adaptive Optics (SCExAO) instrument is a multipurpose high-contrast imaging platform designed for the discovery and detailed characterization of ex…
CubeSats as pathfinders for planetary detection: the FIRST-S satellite
S. Lacour, V. Lapeyrère, L. Gauchet +6
The idea behind FIRST (Fibered Imager foR a Single Telescope) is to use single-mode fibers to combine multiple apertures in a pupil plane as such as to synthesize a bigger aperture…
A new interferometer architecture combining nulling with phase closure measurements
S. Lacour, P. Tuthill, J. D. Monnier +3
Imaging the direct light signal from a faint exoplanet against the overwhelming glare of its host star presents one of the fundamental challenges to modern astronomical instrumenta…
