Unraveling the origin of magnetic fields in galaxies
Sergio Martin-Alvarez, Harley Katz, Debora Sijacki +2
Despite their ubiquity, there are many open questions regarding galactic and cosmic magnetic fields. Specifically, current observational constraints cannot rule out if magnetic fie…
Dual Effects of Ram Pressure on Star Formation in Multi-phase Disk Galaxies with Strong Stellar Feedback
Jaehyun Lee, Taysun Kimm, Harley Katz +3
We investigate the impact of ram pressure stripping due to the intracluster medium (ICM) on star-forming disk galaxies with a multi-phase interstellar medium (ISM) maintained by st…
New Methods for Identifying Lyman Continuum Leakers and Reionization-Epoch Analogues
Harley Katz, Dominika Ďurovčíková, Taysun Kimm +7
Identifying low-redshift galaxies that emit Lyman Continuum radiation (LyC leakers) is one of the primary, indirect methods of studying galaxy formation in the epoch of reionizatio…
The Obelisk simulation: galaxies contribute more than AGN to HI reionization of protoclusters
Maxime Trebitsch, Yohan Dubois, Marta Volonteri +9
We present the Obelisk project, a cosmological radiation-hydrodynamics simulation following the assembly and reionization of a protocluster progenitor during the first two billions…
