Non-Spherical Core-Collapse Supernovae II. Late-Time Evolution of Globally Anisotropic Neutrino-Driven Explosions and Implications for SN 1987A
K. Kifonidis, T. Plewa, L. Scheck +2
Two-dimensional simulations of strongly anisotropic supernova explosions of a nonrotating 15 solar mass blue supergiant progenitor are presented, which follow the hydrodynamic evol…
Hybrid Characteristics: 3D radiative transfer for parallel adaptive mesh refinement hydrodynamics
Erik-Jan Rijkhorst, Tomasz Plewa, Anshu Dubey +1
We have developed a three-dimensional radiative transfer method designed specifically for use with parallel adaptive mesh refinement hydrodynamics codes. This new algorithm, which…
The Piecewise Parabolic Method for Multidimensional Relativistic Fluid Dynamics
A. Mignone, T. Plewa, G. Bodo
We present an extension of the Piecewise Parabolic Method to special relativistic fluid dynamics in multidimensions. The scheme is conservative, dimensionally unsplit, and suitable…
Spectral Signatures of Gravitationally Confined Thermonuclear Supernova Explosions
Daniel Kasen, Tomasz Plewa
We consider some of the spectral and polarimetric signatures of the gravitational confined detonation scenario for Type Ia supernova explosions. In this model, material produced by…
