Revisiting the Borde-Traub focal plane wavefront estimation technique for exoplanet direct imaging
Axel Potier, A J Eldorado Riggs, Garreth Ruane +8
Direct imaging of exoplanets relies on complex wavefront sensing and control architectures. In addition to fast adaptive optics systems, most of the future high-contrast imaging in…
Dual Purpose Lyot Coronagraph Masks for Simultaneous High-Contrast Imaging and High-Resolution Wavefront Sensing
Garreth Ruane, J. Kent Wallace, A J Eldorado Riggs +8
Directly imaging Earth-sized exoplanets with a visible-light coronagraph instrument on a space telescope will require a system that can achieve raw contrast and main…
Broadband Vector Vortex Coronagraph Testing at NASA's High Contrast Imaging Testbed Facility
Garreth Ruane, A J Eldorado Riggs, Eugene Serabyn +6
The unparalleled theoretical performance of an ideal vector vortex coronagraph makes it one of the most promising technologies for directly imaging exoplanets with a future, off-ax…
Experimental analysis of the achromatic performance of a vector vortex coronagraph
Garreth Ruane, Eugene Serabyn, Camilo Mejia Prada +4
The vector vortex coronagraph is an instrument designed for direct detection and spectroscopy of exoplanets over a broad spectral range. Our team is working towards demonstrating c…
