Simulations of astronomical imaging phased arrays
George Saklatvala, Stafford Withington, Michael P. Hobson
We describe a theoretical procedure for analyzing astronomical phased arrays with overlapping beams, and apply the procedure to simulate a simple example. We demonstrate the effect…
Theoretical Analysis of Astronomical Phased Arrays
S. Withington, G. Saklatvala, M. P. Hobson
Low-noise phased arrays are essential for the next generation of microwave and submillimetre wave astronomy. We analyze their behaviour from a functional perspective, and show that…
Simulations of partially coherent focal plane imaging arrays: Fisher matrix approach to performance evaluation
George Saklatvala, Michael P. Hobson, Stafford Withington
Focal plane arrays of bolometers are increasingly employed in astronomy at far--infrared to millimetre wavelengths. The focal plane fields and the detectors are both partially cohe…
Diffraction Considerations for Planar Detectors in the Few-Mode Limit
David T. Chuss, Edward J. Wollack, S. Harvey Moseley +2
Filled arrays of bolometers are currently being employed for use in astronomy from the far-infrared through millimeter parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Because of the large r…
