Cosmic Ray Acceleration by Stellar Associations? The Case of Cygnus OB2
Yousaf Butt, Paula Benaglia, Jorge Combi +10
The origins of all extra-solar cosmic rays -- both the ultra high-energy and lower energy Galactic variety -- remain unclear. It has been argued that the large scale shocks and tur…
CHANDRA/VLA Follow-up of TeV J2032+4131, the Only Unidentified TeV Gamma-ray Source
Yousaf Butt, Paula Benaglia, Jorge Combi +10
The HEGRA Cherenkov telescope array group recently reported a steady and extended unidentified TeV gamma-ray source lying at the outskirts of Cygnus OB2. This is the most massive s…
Discovery of a new radio galaxy within the error box of the unidentified gamma-ray source 3EG J1735-1500
J. A. Combi, G. E. Romero, J. M. Paredes +2
We report the discovery of a new radio galaxy within the location error box of the gamma-ray source 3EG J1735-1500. The galaxy is a double-sided jet source forming a large angle wi…
Did Egret Detect Distant Supernova Remnants?
Diego F. Torres, Gustavo E. Romero, Thomas M. Dame +2
It might be thought that supernova remnants (SNRs) more distant than a few kiloparsec from Earth could not have been detected by the EGRET experiment. This work analyzes the observ…
