Saturation of fishbone instability by self-generated zonal flows in tokamak plasmas
G. Brochard, C. Liu, X. Wei +13
Gyrokinetic simulations of the fishbone instability in DIII-D tokamak plasmas find that self-generated zonal flows can dominate the nonlinear saturation by preventing coherent stru…
Nonlinear Saturation of Kinetic Ballooning Modes by Zonal fields in Toroidal Plasmas
Ge Dong, Jian Bao, Amitava Bhattacharjee +1
Kinetic ballooning modes (KBM) are widely believed to play a critical role in disruptive dynamics as well as turbulent transport in tokamaks. While the nonlinear evolution of ballo…
Verification of particle simulation of radio frequency waves in fusion plasmas
A. Kuley, Z. X. Wang, Z. Lin +1
Radio frequency (RF) waves can provide heating, current and flow drive, as well as instability control for steady state operations of fusion experiments. A particle simulation mode…
Gyrokinetic ion and drift kinetic electron model for electromagnetic simulation in the toroidal geometry
J. Bao, D. Liu, Z. Lin
The kinetic effects of electrons are important to long wavelength magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)instabilities and short wavelength drift-Alfvenic instabilities responsible for turbulence…
