On the Progenitor of Binary Neutron Star Merger GW170817
The LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Virgo Collaboration, B. P. Abbott +1095
On 2017 August 17 the merger of two compact objects with masses consistent with two neutron stars was discovered through gravitational-wave (GW170817), gamma-ray (GRB 170817A), and…
Search for post-merger gravitational waves from the remnant of the binary neutron star merger GW170817
The LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Virgo Collaboration, B. P. Abbott +1105
The first observation of a binary neutron star coalescence by the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo gravitational-wave detectors offers an unprecedented opportunity to study matter…
Estimating the Contribution of Dynamical Ejecta in the Kilonova Associated with GW170817
The LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Virgo Collaboration, B. P. Abbott +1100
The source of the gravitational-wave signal GW170817, very likely a binary neutron star merger, was also observed electromagnetically, providing the first multi-messenger observati…
Target-based Optimization of Advanced Gravitational-Wave Detector Network Operations
Ákos Szölgyén, Gergely Dálya, László Gondán +1
We introduce two novel time-dependent figures of merit for both online and offline optimizations of advanced gravitational-wave (GW) detector network operations with respect to (i)…
