The Thermophysical Properties of the Bagnold Dunes, Mars: Ground-truthing Orbital Data
Christopher S. Edwards, Sylvain Piqueux, Victoria E. Hamilton +7
In this work, we compare the thermophysical properties and particle sizes derived from the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) rover's Ground Temperature Sensor (GTS) of the Bagnold dune…
Resolving the era of river-forming climates on Mars using stratigraphic logs of river-deposit dimensions
Edwin S. Kite, Alan D. Howard, Antoine Lucas +1
River deposits are one of the main lines of evidence that tell us that Mars once had a climate different from today, and so changes in river deposits with time tell us something ab…
Evolution of major sedimentary mounds on Mars
Edwin S. Kite, Jonathan Sneed, David P. Mayer +4
We present a new database of 300 layer-orientations from sedimentary mounds on Mars. These layer orientations, together with draped landslides, and draping of rocks over differe…
Growth and form of the mound in Gale Crater, Mars: Slope-wind enhanced erosion and transport
Edwin S. Kite, Kevin W. Lewis, Michael P. Lamb
Ancient sediments provide archives of climate and habitability on Mars. Gale Crater, the landing site for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL), hosts a 5 km high sedimentary mound. Hy…
