High Redshift HI 21cm Absorption toward Red Quasars
C. L. Carilli, Karl M. Menten, C. P. Moore
We have searched for redshifted absorption in the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen toward `red quasars', which are extragalactic radio sources with a steep spectral drop between opti…
Interferometric Observations of Redshifted Molecular Absorption toward Gravitational Lenses
Karl M. Menten, Christopher L. Carilli, Mark J. Reid
We have made radio- and millimeter-wavelength interferometric observations of a variety of molecular absorption lines toward the gravitational lens systems B0218+357 and PKS1830-21…
Plans for a 10-m Submillimeter-wave Telescope at the South Pole
Antony A. Stark, John E. Carlstrom, Frank P. Israel +5
A 10 meter diameter submillimeter-wave telescope has been proposed for the NSF Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. Current evidence indicates that the South Pole is the best submill…
Imaging the z=0.9 Absorbing Cloud toward 1830-211
C. L. Carilli, K. M. Menten, M. J. Reid +2
We present spectroscopic imaging observations of the molecular and HI 21cm absorbing cloud at z = 0.885 toward the `Einstein ring' radio source PKS 1830-211. We derive a cloud size…
