Decoding the stellar fossils of the dusty Milky Way progenitors
Matteo de Bennassuti, Raffaella Schneider, Rosa Valiante +1
We investigate the metallicity distribution function (MDF) in the Galactic halo and the relative fraction of Carbon-normal and Carbon-rich stars. To this aim, we use an improved ve…
High-redshift quasars host galaxies: is there a stellar mass crisis?
Rosa Valiante, Raffaella Schneider, Stefania Salvadori +1
We investigate the evolutionary properties of a sample of quasars at 5<z<6.4 using the semi-analytical hierarchical model GAMETE/QSOdust. We find that the observed properties of th…
The dust production rate of AGB stars in the Magellanic Clouds
Raffaella Schneider, Rosa Valiante, Paolo Ventura +4
We compare theoretical dust yields for stars with mass 1 Msun < mstar < 8 Msun, and metallicities 0.001 < Z < 0.008 with observed dust production rates (DPR) by carbon- rich and ox…
The origin of the Far-infrared continuum of z ~ 6 quasars: a radiative transfer model for SDSS J1148+5251
Raffaella Schneider, Simone Bianchi, Rosa Valiante +2
We investigate the origin of the FIR continuum of SDSS J1148+5251, using it as a prototype for the more general class of high-luminosity high-redshift QSOs. We run the radiative tr…
