Large-Scale Unsupervised Deep Representation Learning for Brain Structure
Ayush Jaiswal, Dong Guo, Cauligi S. Raghavendra +1
Machine Learning (ML) is increasingly being used for computer aided diagnosis of brain related disorders based on structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. Most of such wor…
Unifying Local and Global Change Detection in Dynamic Networks
Wenzhe Li, Dong Guo, Greg Ver Steeg +1
Many real-world networks are complex dynamical systems, where both local (e.g., changing node attributes) and global (e.g., changing network topology) processes unfold over time. L…
A Comparison between Deep Neural Nets and Kernel Acoustic Models for Speech Recognition
Zhiyun Lu, Dong Guo, Alireza Bagheri Garakani +8
We study large-scale kernel methods for acoustic modeling and compare to DNNs on performance metrics related to both acoustic modeling and recognition. Measuring perplexity and fra…
How to Scale Up Kernel Methods to Be As Good As Deep Neural Nets
Zhiyun Lu, Avner May, Kuan Liu +8
The computational complexity of kernel methods has often been a major barrier for applying them to large-scale learning problems. We argue that this barrier can be effectively over…
