A guided map to the Spiral arms in the galactic disk of the Milky Way
Jacques P Vallee
An up-to-date overview of the recent history is given, aiming to present a helpful working guide to the literature and at the same time introduce key systems and observational resu…
Constraining the pitch angle of the Galactic spiral arms in the Milky Way
Jacques P Vallee
We carry out analyses of some parameters of the galactic spiral arms, in the currently available samples. We present a catalog of the observed pitch angle for each spiral arm in th…
The Norma spiral arm: large-scale pitch angle
Jacques P Vallée
In the inner Galaxy, we statistically find the mean pitch angle of the recently mapped Norma arm in two galactic quadrants (observed tangentially at galactic longitudes near l=328…
On the many '3-kiloparsec arms' - shocked wave and nuclear rotation
Jacques P Vallee
Many features near the Galactic Center have been called 3-kiloparsec arms. We reached a point of having too many divergent data, making it difficult to be constrained by a single p…
Recent advances in the determination of some Galactic constants in the Milky Way
Jacques P Vallée
Here we statistically evaluate recent advances in determining the Sun-Galactic Center distance (Rsun) as well as recent measures of the orbital velocity around the Galactic Center…
