Gamma Neutron Radioactive Source Identification in Water Cherenkov Detectors
A. Núñez Selin, C. Sarmiento Cano, H. Asorey +1
Water Cherenkov Detectors (WCDs) are a robust technology widely used in astrophysics, high energy physics, and recently nuclear security applications. They detect high energy inter…
Water Cherenkov Detectors in Precision Agriculture: A Novel Approach for High-Resolution Soil Moisture Monitoring
Christian Sarmiento-Cano, Jaime Betancour, Alejandro Núñez Selin +4
Water Cherenkov Detectors (WCDs), traditionally employed in cosmic-ray detection, are repurposed here for precision soil moisture monitoring using cosmic-ray neutron sensing. This…
Two-Stage Gamma-Neutron Source Classification in Water Cherenkov Detectors: Energy Threshold Screening and Machine Learning Pulse Analysis
Alejandro Núñez-Selin, Iván Sidelnik, Christian Sarmiento-Cano +2
Water Cherenkov detectors offer a robust and economical solution for real-time radiation monitoring by detecting Cherenkov light from charged particles moving faster than light in…
From a Network to a Networking: The Evolution of the Latin American Giant Observatory
C. Sarmiento-Cano, H. Asorey, M. Audelo +11
The Latin American Giant Observatory (LAGO) is a collaborative initiative that deploys a network of low-cost, autonomous Water Cherenkov Detectors across Latin America and Spain. I…
