Metallicities from high resolution spectra of 49 RR Lyrae Variables
Christina K. Gilligan, Brian Chaboyer, Massimo Marengo +12
Accurate metallicities of RR Lyrae are extremely important in constraining period-luminosity-metallicity relationships (PLZ), particularly in the near-infrared. We analyse 69 high-…
Evolutionary and pulsation properties of Type II Cepheids
G. Bono, V. F. Braga, G. Fiorentino +7
We discuss the observed pulsation properties of Type II Cepheids (TIICs) in the Galaxy and Magellanic Clouds. The period (P) distributions, luminosity amplitudes and population rat…
On the Metamorphosis of the Bailey diagram for RR Lyrae stars
G. Bono, V. F. Braga, J. Crestani +37
We collected over 6000 high-resolution spectra of four dozen field RR Lyrae (RRL) variables pulsating either in the fundamental (39 RRab) or in the first overtone (9 RRc) mode. We…
Identification of RR Lyrae stars in multiband, sparsely-sampled data from the Dark Energy Survey using template fitting and Random Forest classification
K. M. Stringer, J. P. Long, L. M. Macri +75
Many studies have shown that RR Lyrae variable stars (RRL) are powerful stellar tracers of Galactic halo structure and satellite galaxies. The Dark Energy Survey (DES), with its de…
