Radial Velocity Observations and Light Curve Noise Modeling Confirm That Kepler-91b is a Giant Planet Orbiting a Giant Star
Thomas Barclay, Michael Endl, Daniel Huber +5
Kepler-91b is a rare example of a transiting hot Jupiter around a red giant star, providing the possibility to study the formation and composition of hot Jupiters under different c…
Exoplanet population inference and the abundance of Earth analogs from noisy, incomplete catalogs
Daniel Foreman-Mackey, David W. Hogg, Timothy D. Morton
No true extrasolar Earth analog is known. Hundreds of planets have been found around Sun-like stars that are either Earth-sized but on shorter periods, or else on year-long orbits…
Large eccentricity, low mutual inclination: the three-dimensional architecture of a hierarchical system of giant planets
Rebekah I. Dawson, John Asher Johnson, Daniel C. Fabrycky +11
We establish the three-dimensional architecture of the Kepler-419 (previously KOI-1474) system to be eccentric yet with a low mutual inclination. Kepler-419b is a warm Jupiter at s…
Fast Direct Methods for Gaussian Processes
Sivaram Ambikasaran, Daniel Foreman-Mackey, Leslie Greengard +2
A number of problems in probability and statistics can be addressed using the multivariate normal (Gaussian) distribution. In the one-dimensional case, computing the probability fo…
