Accelerator experiments with soft protons and hyper-velocity dust particles: application to ongoing projects of future X-ray missions
E. Perinati, S. Diebold, E. Kendziorra +31
We report on our activities, currently in progress, aimed at performing accelerator experiments with soft protons and hyper-velocity dust particles. They include tests of different…
The LOFT (Large Observatory for X-ray Timing) background simulations
R. Campana, M. Feroci, E. Del Monte +6
The Large Observatory For X-ray Timing (LOFT) is an innovative medium-class mission selected for an assessment phase in the framework of the ESA M3 Cosmic Vision call. LOFT is inte…
LOFT: the Large Observatory For X-ray Timing
M. Feroci, J. W. den Herder, E. Bozzo +245
The LOFT mission concept is one of four candidates selected by ESA for the M3 launch opportunity as Medium Size missions of the Cosmic Vision programme. The launch window is curren…
Estimate of the impact of background particles on the X-Ray Microcalorimeter Spectrometer on IXO
S. Lotti, E. Perinati, L. Natalucci +4
We present the results of a study on the impact of particles of galactic (GCR) and solar origin for the X-ray Microcalorimeter Spectrometer (XMS) aboard an astronomical satellite f…
