A NuSTAR study of the 55 ks hard X-ray pulse-phase modulation in the magnetar 4U 0142+61
Kazuo Makishima, Hiroaki Murakami, Teruaki Enoto +1
Archival NuSTAR data of the magnetar 4U0142+61, acquired in 2014 March for a total time span of 258 ks, were analyzed. This is to reconfirm the 55 ks modulation in the hard X-ray p…
In-orbit performance and calibration of the Hard X-ray Imager onboard Hitomi (ASTRO-H)
Kouichi Hagino, Kazuhiro Nakazawa, Goro Sato +37
The Hard X-ray Imager (HXI) onboard Hitomi (ASTRO-H) is an imaging spectrometer covering hard X-ray energies of 5-80 keV. Combined with the hard X-ray telescope, it enables imaging…
Modeling of proton-induced radioactivation background in hard X-ray telescopes: Geant4-based simulation and its demonstration by Hitomi's measurement in a low Earth orbit
Hirokazu Odaka, Makoto Asai, Kouichi Hagino +47
Hard X-ray astronomical observatories in orbit suffer from a significant amount of background due to radioactivation induced by cosmic-ray protons and/or geomagnetically trapped pr…
Hitomi X-ray Observation of the Pulsar Wind Nebula G21.50.9
Hitomi Collaboration, Felix Aharonian, Hiroki Akamatsu +194
We present results from the Hitomi X-ray observation of a young composite-type supernova remnant (SNR) G21.50.9, whose emission is dominated by the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) cont…
