Large deviations and central limit theorems for sequential and random systems of intermittent maps
Matthew Nicol, Felipe Perez Pereira, Andrew Torok
We obtain large deviations estimates for both sequential and random compositions of intermittent maps. We also address the question of whether or not centering is necessary for the…
Extremes and extremal indices for level set observables on hyperbolic systems
Meagan Carney, Mark Holland, Matthew Nicol
Consider an ergodic measure preserving dynamical system , and an observable . For the time series , we establish limit laws for the m…
A note on large deviations for unbounded observables
Andrew Torok, Matthew Nicol
We consider exponential large deviations estimates for unbounded observables on uniformly expanding dynamical systems. We show that uniform expansion does not imply the existence o…
Martingale approximations and anisotropic Banach spaces with an application to the time-one map of a Lorentz gas
Mark Demers, Ian Melbourne, Matthew Nicol
In this paper, we show how the Gordin martingale approximation method fits into the anisotropic Banach space framework. In particular, for the time-one map of a finite horizon plan…
