ExoPTF Science Uniquely Enabled by Far-IR Interferometry: Probing the Formation of Planetary Systems, and Finding and Characterizing Exoplanets
David Leisawitz, Tom Armstrong, Chad Bender +28
By providing sensitive sub-arcsecond images and integral field spectroscopy in the 25 - 400 micron wavelength range, a far-IR interferometer will revolutionize our understanding of…
Infrared Number Counts of AGN in the GOODS Fields
E. Treister, C. Megan Urry, the GOODS AGN Team
Using the known numbers and evolution of unobscured AGN, and assuming that there is a large number of corresponding obscured AGN -- as expected if AGN unification is correct -- we…
Obscured AGN and the X-ray, Optical and Far-Infrared Number Counts of AGN in the GOODS Fields
E. Treister, C. M. Urry, E. Chatzichristou +12
The deep X-ray, optical, and far-infrared fields that constitute GOODS are sensitive to obscured AGN (N_H>10^{22} cm^{-2}) at the quasar epoch (z~2-3), as well as to unobscured AGN…
Dwarf Elliptical Galaxies in the Perseus Cluster
J. S. Gallagher, C. J. Conselice, R. F. G. Wyse +3
Dwarf ellipticals have the lowest stellar densities of any galaxies, but paradoxically are most common in the densest regions of the universe, and are especially frequent in rich c…
