The FIRST Bright Quasar Survey. II. 60 Nights and 1200 Spectra Later
R. L. White, R. H. Becker, M. D. Gregg +11
We have used the VLA FIRST survey and the APM catalog of the POSS-I plates as the basis for constructing a new radio-selected sample of optically bright quasars. This is the first…
FIRST Bent-Double Radio Sources: Tracers of High-Redshift Clusters
E. L. Blanton, M. D. Gregg, D. J. Helfand +2
Bent-double radio sources can act as tracers for clusters of galaxies. We present imaging and spectroscopic observations of the environments surrounding ten of these sources (most…
What Determines the Depth of BALs? Keck HIRES Observations of BALQSO 1603+300
Nahum Arav, Robert H. Becker, Sally A. Laurent-Muehleisen +3
We find that the depth and shape of the broad absorption lines (BALs) in BALQSO 1603+3002 are determined largely by the fraction of the emitting source which is covered by the BAL…
Discovery of a Radio-loud/Radio-quiet Binary Quasar
M. S. Brotherton, Michael D. Gregg, R. H. Becker +3
We report the discovery of a small separation quasar pair (z=0.586, O=18.4, 19.2, sep. = 2.3 arcsec) associated with the radio source FIRST J164311.3+315618 (S_1400 = 120 mJy). The…
