Outflows of neutral (and ionized) gas in radio galaxies
R. Morganti, T. Oosterloo, C. Tadhunter
Outflows up to 1500 km/s of atomic neutral hydrogen are detected in a growing number of radio galaxies. Outflows with similar velocities are also detected in ionized gas, suggestin…
Starbursts and the triggering of the activity in nearby powerful radio galaxies
C. Tadhunter, T. G. Robinson, R. M. Gonzalez Delgado +2
We present high quality long-slit spectra for three nearby powerful radio galaxies 3C293, 3C305, PKS1345+12. These were taken with the aim of characterising the young stellar popul…
The unfriendly ISM in the radio galaxy 4C12.50 (PKS 1345+12)
R. Morganti, T. A. Oosterloo, C. N. Tadhunter +4
The radio source 4C12.50 has often been suggested to be a prime candidate for the link between ultraluminous infrared galaxies and young radio galaxies. A VLBI study of the neutral…
A giant molecular cloud falling through the heart of Cygnus A: clues to the triggering of the activity
M. J. Bellamy, C. N. Tadhunter
We present intermediate resolution near-IR long-slit spectroscopic data for the nearby radio galaxy Cygnus A (3C 405) (obtained with the NIRSPEC spectrograph on the Keck II telesco…
