Intrinsic timescales of spiking activity in humans during wakefulness and sleep
Annika Hagemann, Marcel Stephan Kehl, Jonas Dehning +5
Information processing in the brain requires integration of information over time. Such an integration can be achieved if signals are maintained in the network activity for the req…
Assessing criticality in pre-seizure single-neuron activity of human epileptic cortex
Annika Hagemann, Jens Wilting, Bita Samimizad +2
Epileptic seizures are characterized by abnormal and excessive neural activity, where cortical network dynamics seem to become unstable. However, most of the time, during seizure-f…
Monitoring spike train synchrony
Thomas Kreuz, Daniel Chicharro, Conor Houghton +2
Recently, the SPIKE-distance has been proposed as a parameter-free and time-scale independent measure of spike train synchrony. This measure is time-resolved since it relies on ins…
Neuronal Shot Noise and Brownian Behavior in the Local Field Potential
J. N. Milstein, F. Mormann, I. Fried +1
We demonstrate that human electrophysiological recordings of the local field potential (LFP) from intracranial electrodes, acquired from a variety of cerebral regions, show a ubiqu…
