Enhanced dispersion interaction in confined geometry
Michal Marcovitch, Haim Diamant
The dispersion interaction between two point-like particles confined in a dielectric slab between two plates of another dielectric medium is studied within a continuum (Lifshitz) t…
Surface relaxation of lyotropic lamellar phases
H. Bary-Soroker, H. Diamant
We study the relaxation modes of an interface between a lyotropic lamellar phase and a gas or a simple liquid. The response is found to be qualitatively different from those of bot…
Correlated particle dynamics in concentrated quasi-two-dimensional suspensions
H. Diamant, B. Cui, B. Lin +1
We investigate theoretically and experimentally how the hydrodynamically correlated lateral motion of particles in a suspension confined between two surfaces is affected by the sus…
From random walk to single-file diffusion
B. Lin, M. Meron, B. Cui +2
We report an experimental study of diffusion in a quasi-one-dimensional (q1D) colloid suspension which behaves like a Tonks gas. The mean squared displacement as a function of time…
Hydrodynamic interaction in quasi-two-dimensional suspensions
H. Diamant, B. Cui, B. Lin +1
Confinement between two parallel surfaces is found, theoretically and experimentally, to drastically affect the hydrodynamic interaction between colloid particles, changing the sig…
