Side lengths of cubes with vertices in ${\mathbb{Z}}^n$

We determine the set of side lengths of $d$-dimensional cubes with vertices in ${\mathbb{Z}}^n$ using Witt's cancellation theorem from the algebraic theory of quadratic forms.
