A High Resolution View of the Warm Absorber in the Quasar MR2251-178
J. N. Reeves, D. Porquet, V. Braito +5
High resolution X-ray spectroscopy of the warm absorber in the nearby quasar, MR2251-178 (z = 0.06398) is presented. The observations were carried out in 2011 using the Chandra Hig…
Fast and Furious: Shock Heated Gas as the Origin of Spatially Resolved Hard X-ray Emission in the Central 5 kpc of the Galaxy Merger NGC 6240
Junfeng Wang, Emanuele Nardini, Giuseppina Fabbiano +7
We have obtained a deep, sub-arcsecond resolution X-ray image of the nuclear region of the luminous galaxy merger NGC 6240 with Chandra, which resolves the X-ray emission from the…
A rapidly spinning supermassive black hole at the centre of NGC 1365
G. Risaliti, F. A. Harrison, K. K. Madsen +9
Broad X-ray emission lines from neutral and partially ionized iron observed in active galaxies have been interpreted as fluorescence produced by the reflection of hard X-rays off t…
The Exceptional Soft X-ray Halo of the Galaxy Merger NGC 6240
Emanuele Nardini, Junfeng Wang, Giuseppina Fabbiano +5
We report on a recent ~150-ks long Chandra observation of the ultraluminous infrared galaxy merger NGC 6240, which allows a detailed investigation of the diffuse galactic halo. Ext…
