Proof of the main conjecture on g-areas

François Lalonde, Egor Shelukhin

In this paper, we prove the main conjecture on $g$ -areas that was announced by the first author in 2004. It states that the $g$ -area of any Hamiltonian diffeomorphism $ϕ$ is equal…

On the injectivity radius in Hofer's geometry

François Lalonde, Yakov Savelyev

In this note we consider the following conjecture: given any closed symplectic manifold $M$ , there is a sufficiently small real positive number $ρ$ such that the open ball of radiu…

The $g$ -areas and the commutator length

François Lalonde, Andrei Teleman

The commutator length of a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism $f \in Ham (M, ω)$ of a closed symplectic manifold $(M, ω)$ is by definition the minimal $k$ such that $f$ can be writte…

An example concerning Hamiltonian groups of self product, I

Shengda Hu, Francois Lalonde

We show that $(S^{2} \times S^{2}, ω_{0} \oplus λ ω_{0})$ , with $λ > 1$ , is an example of symplectic manifold $(X, ω)$ such that the $π_{1} H am (X \times X, ω \oplus - ω)$ contains extra elements…

An example concerning Hamiltonian groups of self product, II

Shengda Hu, Francois Lalonde

We describe the natural identification of $F H_{*} (X \times X, △; ω \oplus - ω)$ with $F H_{*} (X, ω)$ . Under this identification, we show that the extra elements in $Ham(X \times X…
