Equilateral sets in uniformly smooth Banach spaces

D. Freeman, E. Odell, B. Sari +1

Let $X$ be an infinite dimensional uniformly smooth Banach space. We prove that $X$ contains an infinite equilateral set. That is, there exists a constant $λ > 0$ and an infinite seq…

Unconditional structures of translates for $L_{p} (R^{d})$

D. Freeman, E. Odell, Th. Schlumprecht +1

We prove that a sequence $(f_{i})_{i = 1}^{\infty}$ of translates of a fixed $f \in L_{p} (R)$ cannot be an unconditional basis of $L_{p} (R)$ for any $1 \leq p < \infty$ . In contrast to this, for…

Systems formed by translates of one element in $L_{p} (R)$

E. Odell, B. Sari, Th. Schlumprecht +1

Let $1 \leq p < \infty$ , $f \in L_{p} (ℜ)$ and $Λ \subseteq ℜ$ . We consider the closed subspace of $L_{p} (ℜ)$ , $X_{p} (f, Λ)$ , generated by the set of translations $f_{(λ)}$ of $f$ …

Coefficient Quantization for Frames in Banach Spaces

P. G. Casazza, S. J. Dilworth, E. Odell +2

Let $(e_{i})$ be a fundamental system of a Banach space. We consider the problem of approximating linear combinations of elements of this system by linear combinations using quantize…

Lattice structures and spreading models

S. J. Dilworth, E. Odell, B. Sari

We consider problems concerning the partial order structure of the set of spreading models of Banach spaces. We construct examples of spaces showing that the possible structure of…
