Minimal decomposition of binary forms with respect to tangential projections

Edoardo Ballico, Alessandra Bernardi

Let $C \subset P^{n}$ be a rational normal curve and let $ℓ_{O} : P^{n + 1} ⇢ P^{n}$ be any tangential projection form a point $O \in T_{A} C$ where $A\…

Stratification of the fourth secant variety of Veronese variety via the symmetric rank

Edoardo Ballico, Alessandra Bernardi

If $X \subset P^{n}$ is a projective non degenerate variety, the $X$ -rank of a point $P \in P^{n}$ is defined to be the minimum integer $r$ such that $P$ belongs to the…

Higher secant varieties of $P^{n} \times P^{m}$ embedded in bi-degree $(1, d)$

Alessandra Bernardi, Enrico Carlini, Maria Virginia Catalisano

Let $X_{(1, d)}^{(n, m)}$ denote the Segre-Veronese embedding of $P^{n} \times P^{m}$ via the sections of the sheaf $O (1, d)$ . We study the dimensions of highe…

Decomposition of homogeneous polynomials with low rank

Edoardo Ballico, Alessandra Bernardi

Let $F$ be a homogeneous polynomial of degree $d$ in $m + 1$ variables defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and suppose that $F$ belongs to the $s$ -th se…

On the X-rank with respect to linearly normal curves

Edoardo Ballico, Alessandra Bernardi

In this paper we study the $X$ -rank of points with respect to smooth linearly normal curves $X\subset \PP n$ of genus $g$ and degree $n + g$ . We prove that, for such a curve $X$ , und…
