Strongly Variable z=1.48 FeII and MgII Absorption in the Spectra of z=4.05 GRB 060206
H. Hao, K. Z. Stanek, A. Dobrzycki +9
We report on the discovery of strongly variable FeII and MgII absorption lines seen at z=1.48 in the spectra of the z=4.05 GRB 060206 obtained between 4.13 to 7.63 hours (observer…
On the Age and Metallicity Estimation of Spiral Galaxies Using Optical and Near-Infrared Photometry
Hyun-chul Lee, Guy Worthey, Scott C. Trager +1
In integrated-light, some color-color diagrams that use optical and near-infrared photometry show surprisingly orthogonal grids as age and metallicity are varied, and they are comi…
An Empirical UBVRIJHK Color-Temperature Calibration for Stars
G. Worthey, H. -c. Lee
A collection of Johnson/Cousins photometry for stars with known [Fe/H] is used to generate color-color relations that include the abundance dependence. Literature temperature and b…
"Anomalous" Optical GRB Afterglows are Common: Two z~4 Bursts, GRB 060206 and 060210
K. Z. Stanek, X. Dai, J. L. Prieto +9
We report on two recent z~4 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), GRB 060206 and GRB 060210, for which we have obtained well-sampled optical light curves. Our data, combined with early optical…
